What is included in the course?

- How to position the hands, how to lift the baby, and how to switch from left to right hands safely
Feeding the Baby
- How to prepare milk.
- Washing and sterilising milk bottles.
- How to burp the baby.
- How often to feed the baby.
Soothing and Helping Baby to Nap
- How to pacify the baby and what to do when the baby is crying.
- Check the diaper, offer milk, or observe if the baby is unwell.
Bathing the Baby
- What to prepare before bathing: close windows to prevent chills, prepare towels, fresh clothes, and diapers.
- How to check the water temperature.
- How to remove the baby’s clothes.
- How to wash the baby using a washcloth or baby sponge.
- Which parts to wash first and in what direction (upwards or downwards).
- How to reposition the baby to wash the back area.
- How to carry the baby out of the tub and wrap with a towel.
Dressing and Swaddling the Baby
- How to dress a baby appropriately to maintain a stable body temperature, usually through effective layering.
- Swaddling techniques to help the baby feel secure.
- Changing diapers regularly to prevent rashes.
- How to clean the baby properly after a poo to avoid infection and rashes.
- Applying diaper rash cream as needed.
At the end of the course, helpers who successfully complete the course will receive certification in basic infant care competency.
